Autonomic Computing

An area of research which is one among the computer science community is “Autonomic computing”. An autonomic computing system is self-managing, which means the system monitors itself and takes measures to prevent or repair problems. Currently, autonomic computing is mostly theoretical. But, if autonomic computing becomes a reality, it could eliminate the need for many IT maintenance jobs.

Let me explain you by taking a very simple example for imagining this. In every organization there is a specific IT department which handles the development & maintenance of many applications. If we take problems like,

mails not sent from applications,
webserver not responding
database locking issues & etc

the developers or support people will look at the log of the applications and respond it by,

Forcefully send the mails which are undelivered by fixing the SMTP/mail server,
Fixing the web server either by restarting when it fails
Removing database locks manually

In autonomic computing, the system/application will have the intelligence of knowing what action to be taken if such problem occurs and will act on it in a timely fashion. Thus avoiding manual work and increasing the response time.

JAML – Javascript library for creating HTML output by re-usable templates

How good it’s always to keep DATA separated from the UI layout. And that too if you are able to define a UI template using JavaScript which can render us the HTML content. Yes, one of the way to do is, by using JAML.

Registering template:

Javascript Object Oriented Programming using MOOTOOLS

I have worked with various JavaScript frameworks like JQuery & ExtJS. Recently, I have started getting hands on with this new JavaScript framework named “mootools” which is not only browser compatible like any other JavaScript framework, but is also lightweight. This helps me in writing JavaScript code in object-oriented fashion (like we generally do with any OOPS language like C#, JAVA etc). I know that writing code in OO style is also available with other frameworks, but this one I feel is better. Feel it here….
